When vocaloid, a singing synthesizer software developed by Yamaha was released, sure it helped many artiste and composers out, but it’s just a music application nonetheless. It was when a singing synthesizer that has female persona installed with it, hence having the power to dictate how a girl should sound like, this meets the fact that the Internet is filled with greasy anime fanboys, it was only a matter of time before something exploded.
Meet Hatsune Miku a 16 year old Internet pop idol, 158cm in height and weighs around 48kg, has never been in any scandal, never had a boyfriend, always smiling, cheerful, doesn’t go on a binge and has never and will never ever break your heart. That’s right, like any other on-stage female persona, her character is purely fictional. In fact Hatsune has been 16 years old for several years now, until a new version is released, say Hatsune version 2.0 featuring a mature Hatsune with a bigger bust size, till that happens she will always be that sweet 16 year old teen much to the joy to her lolita crazed fans.
Now before some of you start passing on judgements with the obsession over some fictional character why don’t you ponder this for a moment, what’s the difference between obsession over Hatsune Miku and say Lady Gaga. Both are fictional (character wise), auto tuned and the odds of you getting it on with Lady Gaga is the same as getting it on with Hatsune, ZILCH!
Miku chan has been around for quite a while, search her through youtube and you will find many videos of her rendering songs of varying genres and languages. However this Internet sensation has just hit another notch recently when she performed live in Tokyo in front of thousands of adoring fans backed by bands on a big stage, lights complete with all that jazz. Of course you might be wondering how in the world a synthesizer software do a live rendition? They programme it on the fly or something? Of course not, duh! They pre programmed it then sync it with her animation, blast her image on screen followed by a live band and bam! There you have it a 3D “Live” performance with Miku prancing around much to the glee of her adoring fanboys. Hey, it is as “LIVE” as a pop idol who lip syncs in a concert, same shit.
Anyway, like any other pop sensation Miku will be heading overseas and her next stop is Los Angeles. She is joining Anime EXPO 2011 and will be performing in the Nokia Theatre on 2nd of July. Rest assured unlike those bitchy pompous vain pop stars, she will not be late for her show, unless of course there’s some technical glitches along the way. So east coast anime fans with 2D complex do congregate to Los Angeles to get a glimpse of this Internet sensation and upgrade your complex to a 3 Dimensional obsession. Hatsune Miku coupled with Remote French Kissing via Internet application, W//W foresees that this fandom may break into a new dimension in the near future.
P/S – Specially for her Malaysian fans, here is Miku Chan in a Baju Kurung singing “Suasana Hari Raya”
