You have all heard by now about Fahmi Fadzil and the Blu Inc defamation case. The settlement for that case is that Fahmi Fadzil have to apologies and correct himself 100 times on Twitter. Read our previous post to know more about it. That bizarre social media punishment gets an international coverage, so we compiled a list.
There is also a Facebook page tracking this, Facebook.com/defahmied.
Over at Goreng.my’s post, it says that Fahmi Fadzil had said the following:-
“My friend’s wife, who works at FEMALE magazine, has tendered her resignation because they’re giving her so much shit because she’s pregnant.”
Now regardless of whether Blu Inc did treated their pregnant employee badly or not, it does not matter anymore. Everyone had jump on the 100 apologetic punishment tweets.
Before this I had never known about Blu Inc (I don’t read their magazines) or Fahmi Fadzil (I don’t follow politics that much). Now if this was somehow Blu Inc’s strategy to have everyone talking about them, bravo! they got what they wanted, now lets see how this translate to magazine sales. If this was some how Fahmi Fadzil’s master plan to gain more popularity on the twitterers, kudos! he sure did.
However, I don’t think any of that were the case here. It’s a small case being blown out of proportion due to the troll-like nature of the internet generation.
Here is a question, if it was me @jibone someone who is not a political aide, hardly a social activist, just a web geek with a small amount of Twitter follower that had said those slanderous tweets against Blu Inc, would they care?
If I were to apologies 100 times on Twitter, would it get any coverage at all? I doubt it.
